Relevance: Seems to act as a signaling molecule involved in the maintenance of iron homeostasis. Seems to be required in conjunction with HFE to regulate both intestinal iron absorption and iron storage in macrophages Has very strong antibacterial activity against the marine Gram-negative bacteria V.alginolyticus (MIC=24 µM), V.fluvialis, V.harveyis (MIC=12 µM) and V.parahaemolyticus (MIC=6 µM). Has antibacterial activity against the Gram-negative bacteria A.hydrophila (MIC=6 µM), E.coli (MIC=24 µM), and E.coli BL21(DE3)plysS (MIC=6 µM), and the Gram-positive bacteria B.cereus (MIC=24 µM), B.subtilis (MIC=6 µM), C.glutamicum (MIC=3 µM), M.luteus (MIC=3 µM), M.lysodeikticus, S.aureus (MIC=6 µM) and S.epidermis (MIC=12 µM). Possesses antifungal activity against A.niger (MIC=24 µM), F.graminearum (MIC24 µM) and F.solani (MIC=24 µM), but lacks antifungal activity against the yeasts P.pastoris GS115 and C.albicans.

Purity: Greater than 90% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Storage: The shelf life is related to many factors, storage state, buffer ingredients, storage temperature and the stability of the protein itself. Generally, the shelf life of liquid form is 6 months at -20℃/-80℃. The shelf life of lyophilized form is 12 months at -20℃/-80℃.

Notes: Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. Store working aliquots at 4℃ for up to one week.
